ISO 20000 is an international standard for IT service management. It was developed in 2005 and revised in 2011 and 2018. It's commonly used for IT services, facilities management, and business services. ISO 20000 is divided into a number of parts, including ISO 20000-1, which defines the requirements for a service management system (SMS). ISO 20000-1:2011 is a service management system (SMS) standard that specifies requirements for the service provider to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain, and improve an SMS. ISO 20000 is ideal for any service provider who wants to provide assurance in the quality of the services they deliver. Some say that ISO 20000 is more detailed in capacity requirements, planning, and monitoring than ISO 27001.
